This home is located in the Queen Anne area in Seattle. It was very important to the owners that the remodel retain the overall scale and feel of the original 1920’s era residence. To achieve this, we removed most of the existing roof and added two shed dormers on the upper floor. This allowed use of the former attic space as a master suite. By adding decorative coffered beams in the living room ceiling we were able to support the additional building loads that are imposed by the new Master Suite. We even cut the beams into the original plaster cove moldings, for a seamless remodel that looks like it were part of the original construction. The remodeled home retains its quaint character from the street while capturing important usable space in the attic.
